Have You Seen A Rainbow Lately?

I have! This evening I was on my way to the central rubbish chute to get rid of a bag of trash that's when I saw this huge arch of rainbow hanging in the sky! I quickly dumped the trash (in the chute of course) & raced home to get my camera.

Here are 2 of the 5 shots I took & a video to show you how long the rainbow was! I have not seen a rainbow for quite a while & it's my luck to see one today & a long one too! The rain poured heavily in the late afternoon, along with thunder & lightning. But isn't it all worthwhile when you are rewarded with a beautiful rainbow at the end of the storm? This reminds me of the closing number "Over The Rainbow" in the movie "You've Got Mail!".

Simple Pleasures

Like any other work day, I was on my usual walk home yesterday evening but at the traffic crossing I heard a little honk. I looked to my right & there she was! My friend, Mag, smiling brightly at me! She was in her car, also on her way home from work. What splendid timing & good luck to meet someone you know - unplanned! There's no better way to end a tiring day at work than to be greeted by a megawatt SMILE! It was a happy day.

Sun Burnt!

Has anyone seen my sun tan lotion?

This felt doll I made is dedicated to my friend, Carol, who has just visited the horticulture park yesterday & is currently very burnt!

Game Girl

I'm a game 'girl'! I like to play games, not the psychological kind, but just plain old games for relaxation. Not the action type either, so my favourites are word games, sudoku & locating hidden items in puzzles. Today, I've added Sudoku in my blog so that you can share my pleasure in gaming...Enjoy!

Remembering Pa Pa

Today is Pa Pa's death anniversary. How time flies, he has left us for 2 years already.

Pa Pa was a hoarder; he collected alot of things during his days - stamps, currency notes, big sweep tickets, old records, cigarette boxes & many many other stuff that others would have thrown away but he kept as treasures.

Unfortunately, many of his treasures had to go after he left us but here (in the 1st picture), you can still see some of his things I kept for remembrance: little cigarette boxes, an "Around the World in 80 days" movie ticket dated 30 March 1958, an admission ticket to Harlem Globetrotters' match dated 12 December 1956, a Bill Haley & his Comets "Rock Around the Clock" record & some picture cards that were stashed away in one of the cigarette boxes. Lovely stuff, right?

Like Pa Pa, I am also a hoarder (a scaled-down version though) - I collect tin boxes & chewing gum wrappers, keep almost every shopping bag (even the not-so-nice ones) as I can't bear to throw them away, and I still have those little premiums (small toys) that accompanied each bag of cracker/tidbit I bought when I was a kid! I guess I inherited the trait from Pa Pa...But who will inherit my 'treasures' after I'm gone?

Pa Pa, we miss you...

Hair Cut

I need a hair cut - BADLY! My hair has since outgrown it's style & is desperately in need of re-shaping (not to mention that I also need to cover up those grey hairs that are peeking through without my permission!). But I kept postponing the trip as I dread going to the hairdresser. Why? Cos everytime I will enter the salon with full of hope but only to emerge with something that I didn't ask for - e v e r y t i m e, without fail! Do you have the same problem or is it just me? Hair - you don't know what to do with them at times but you certainly can't do without them. Well, much as I dread getting my hair tamed, I have to do it... now...wish me luck.

Retirement

No, not mine! I'm referring to the retirement of some of the stuff I own. The strap on my sandal (the right foot one) broke while I was walking home from work this evening. Thankfully, only the part where the strap joins the base of the shoe at the big toe end came off, while the strap that stretches horizontally across my foot remained intact, thus still making it possible for me to drag my foot & 'limp' the rest of my way home.

Many of my home appliances 'retired' in the past few months - first, my standing lamp broke after shining brightly for 10 years, followed by the fridge which has been with me for close to 15 years. I believe the next 'retiree' would be the washing machine as it has started showing signs of weariness (it has also been with me for almost 15 years). I've always hoped that all the stuff I own will last forever so that I do not have to spend money replacing them, especially during tough times like these. But we all know that no worldly thing will last forever. So now, I'm just thankful that the sandals, lamp & fridge have served me well during all those years and I hope their replacements will do just as well if not better.

Can You Help To Ease Their Pain?

My friend, Sharon, SMSed me yesterday to inform that her dad's hospitalised due to stroke. She's feeling very down now. I feel sorry that I can't help her much except to offer my listening ear and some words of comfort. Makes me think of those days when dad was sick with cancer... Would you help to pray for them, please?

Cow Tin

My first painting project - the cow tin.

Country Pig Tin - Front View

I love country pigs. I first painted the tin in blue and then lightly brushed some black paint over it to make the tin look aged. This is the front view of the tin.

Country Pig Tin - Back View

This is the back view of the tin. I painted a smaller version of the country pig and some flowers & leaves around it.

Country Pig Tin - On My Coffee Table

A Special Guest

A little black bird visited me yesterday (uh uh, not this cute one on the right). To be specific, it visited my bedroom. Bird used my toilet, checked itself out in my side table mirror, tried my bed & even inspected my floor & the top of my chest of drawers to see if I had dusted them well...How did I know bird toured those places? Well, birdie left poop & seeds as souvenirs & proof of its visit. Mum thought it was an auspicious sign of better luck coming my way. Bless her for her optimism!
